Casona Almena

Giving a boutique place a distinctive, ownable identity.

A small property cannot outspend anyone. It can only be more itself.

The Challenge

Casona Almena is a boutique property in Campeche — the kind of place whose entire proposition is that it is not a chain. That is easy to say and hard to own, because every small hotel says it.

What it needed was not a louder voice but a more particular one: an identity specific enough that the building, the signage and the stationery could only belong to this house and no other.

The Ambition

An identity capable of giving the property a coherent and memorable sense of place, delivered as a system the owners could actually run without a design team.

The Response

Insight. Boutique hospitality is judged in small physical moments — the plaque by the door, the card in the room, the way a name is set on a menu. Restraint reads as confidence at that scale; decoration reads as trying.

Idea. A monogram built as an arch, echoing the architecture, paired with a green-and-clay palette drawn from the building itself and an auxiliary tile pattern taken from colonial floor geometry.

System. A delivered master covering logotype and its variants, safety area, primary and secondary palettes, typography, auxiliary graphics, editorial elements and applications.

The Impact

One delivered master document that functions as the property’s whole visual authority — from a brass plaque on a colonial wall to a reservation card.

At this scale, restraint is not a style. It is the argument.
